Angry Old Spoonie

Angry, Old and Sick

About

wsnfsbty_400x400

I’m Vix, and angry Spoonie with 38 years of life under my belt.  I have only recently accepted that yes, I am indeed a Spoonie so this blog is help me to come to terms with that, and to try and help others along the way.

My current list of Spoon related illnesses are:

  • Cyclothymia
  • COPD
  • Asthma
  • Fibromyalgia (this includes, of course, chronic pain)
  • Spinal arthritis
  • Chronic fatigue
  • RSI
  • Anxiety
  • PTSD
  • OCD
  • ED 0 mainly binging
  • Iron deficiency
  • Vitamin D deficiency
  • Weariness of life

I started this blog initially as a way of trying to work through my feelings about no longer being ‘able bodied’, and learning to accept my conditions.  Now that has expanded to blogging about trying to lose weight and investigate alternative therapies and treatments.  Having had several doctor’s appointments so far in 2018, I feel that the medical profession doesn’t care about most of my conditions and i’m sick to death of trying to find someone who will listen to me and take me seriously.  Don’t worry, i’m not going to go full on woo-woo – i still need my prescription meds for a lot of my conditions!  I’m just tired of doctors taking me seriously so i’m exploring new avenues.

My weight has always been an issue for me since around the year 2000 when I gained 3 stone in the space of 30 days thanks to a change of my contraceptive pill.  Ever since then i’ve yo-yo’d between a UK size 14 to my current size, 20/22.  The added weight means that a lot of my conditions are worse than they have ever been, but trying to exercise when your Fibro is draining away all your energy and motivation is practically a non-starter.

I also really enjoy my food and cooking, so there will also be recipes, especially those that require minimum effort.  If I feel that any of my weird and wonderful concoctions are worth publishing, i’ll post them here.

So, join me on my journey of weight loss and my adventure in alternative therapies!  And please do feel free to buy me a coffee if you like or enjoy the content.
