This is one of my favourite breakfasts at the moment. During the Winter and when the weather is cold enough for a hot breakfast, I wouldn’t turn this into a smoothie, I’d just heat up a bowl of these overnight oats and have them hot. In the Spring and Summer, I struggle to find a breakfast that’s filling enough to keep me going from 6.30 – 11am, and an oatmeal smoothie is just the ticket!
You’ll need:
- Quarter of a cup of rolled oats
- 1 x tsp of nut butter (I use almond butter for mine)
- Half tsp of cinnamon
- 1 x tbsp raw cacao powder
- 1 x cup of frozen cherries (or you could use whichever fruit you fancy)
- 1 x cup of milk of your choosing (I tend to use almond milk)
Shove it all in your blender/smoothie maker, blitz until smooth and then stick it in the fridge overnight. In the morning, I add a little bit of runny honey, give it a shake and then drink whilst watching the morning news.
If I’m meal prepping, then I’ll out all the dry ingredients into old glass jars (enough for the week) and then just add the wet ingredients on the night I blend them all together before they go in the fridge overnight.
You can drink this smoothie straight from the blender cup, or you could be really fancy and make a smoothie bowl. And if drinking it straight from the fridge is too cold for you, just poor into a bowl and pop it in the microwave for 30-40 seconds to take the edge off.
